  • women in tents (tschador)
  • almost drowned in flashfloods on caspian sea
  • chaotic traffic in and outside cities
  • prices for entrance to the sites
  • too much tea no beer
  • the belutschi desert
  • tanking bad petrol sucked out of barrels filtert with t-shirts
  • ben hur equipment on paki trucks (die reifenfraese)
  • too many invitations for staying and tea in iran and paki
  • motorcycle breakdown
  • german embassy and their staff (no email, no help) in islamabad
  • western media giving a wrong view of the middle eastern contries

  • 2 tire punctures in the desert (because of nails!!!)
  • outfit of tribal people a little bit scary

  • wonderful teagardens near mosques and in beautyful parks
  • the belutschi desert
  • 15 pfennigs per litre petrol in iran
  • colorful painted paki trucks (and they are much slower than in iran)
  • good food on the truck stops (at first horrible looking)
  • having a pickup in 20 minutes driving us to islamabad for 30 dollars
  • swiss embassy in islamabad (incl. coffee and cake, post pickup) email and help
  • having a service landrover behind with air compressor lots of tools a little refrigerator and swiss efficency (thanks to roger and tanja)
  • outfit of tribal people smiling and chatting with you
  • brave danish family an their little boys
  • bicycle riders in the desert and in doggy areas
  • other travellers in same situation than we are
  • bmw dealer in islamabad offering full service and hospitality, chatting

News vom 24. August 2001 - Türkei ( ebenfalls noch östlicher Sektor)

hallo lieber claus

bin heute mal alleine nach dogu gefahren und wollte unbedingt mal ein dankeschoen fuer die arbeit, die du dir mit unserer homepage machst loswerden!!! Aber sehr gerne geschehen.
da wir ja nun morgen oder uebermorgen die westliche welt erst einmal verlassen und heute freitag ist, gehe ich davon aus, dass wir erst irgendwo im iran wieder was von euch und ihr von uns hoert.
hier auf dem camping murat sammelt sich uebrigens die westliche welt (u.a. sehr nette schweizer in einem traum von einem landrover!! (Klau die Kiste und bring sie mir mit ;-)) und ebenfalls sehr nette hollaender, die auch weiter gen osten fahren)

habe eben gesehen dass bei euch noch mal bombenwetter ist. sehe dich vor meinem inneren auge auf deinem feld arbeiten! hoffentlich waechst und gedeiht alles gut! Sitze gerade bei den Huskies und esse meine Tomaten. Spätnachmittag, 34°C im Schatten und die Jungs liegen in der Sonne, Bauch nach oben. Halt echte nordische Hunde ;-)))

hey, schicke jetzt lieber mal die mail. hier stuerzt naemlich dauernd der computer ab.
freue mich ueber jede aktualisierung unserer homepage.

News vom 23. August 2001 - Türkei (östlicher Sektor)

hello tullio lutz and claus
we are laeving the american sector soon and are now after a marvellous ride through kurdistan in dogubeyazit. the other nemrut near tatvan was super. you can go into the caldera dirt track to some crater lakes and camp there...bikes are okay but DHL was shit they transferred on my costs the package form istanbul (where it laid 3 days) to adana and i had to get it form there also on my own costs and pay additional money to turkisch airlines.

News vom 25. Juni 2001 - Syrien

Hallo Tondoks!

Vielen Dank fuer euer nettes Mail. Wir sind jetzt in Syrien (Damaskus) und es ist unglaublich schoen. Es hat sich in den letzten 2 Jahren (Beschar Assad) sehr viel getan z.B. gibt es mittlerweile sehr viele Internet-Cafes.
Es wird immer einfacher in dieser Region zu reisen. Libanon ist kein grosses Problem mehr und wir werden morgen Richtung Beirut weiterziehen.

Leider wird unsere Homepage nicht regelmaessig upgedated ( leider, leider. Gelobe noch mehr Selbstdisziplin. Der sündige Webmaster), aber das wird dann schon. Vielen Dank fuer euren Besuch dort. Alles Gute fuer Euch und werdet wieder gesund.

PS: Kleiner Tip fuer Eure Buecher (Jordanien und Aegypten) Vielleicht ist es moeglich die Touren etwas unabhaengiger von der Reiserichtung zu machen und alle Detailkarten mit Masstaeben zu versehen. Man kommt leicht durcheinander wenn man andere Wege geht und nicht nur ein Land bereist.

Konvois in Sued-Aegypten sind immer noch grosser Mist aber man kann ohne weiteres mit den Motorraedern ausbrechen wenn man will. Ausserdem kann man guenstig die Motorraeder in die Bahn verladen und mitfahren. Wichtig : nur kein Benzin im Tank. In Beni Suef mussten wir den Inhalt ablassen und auf dem Markt verkaufen.....
